On Thursday July 21st, members of Merrimack Valley’s largest Architectural Design Firm, CUBE 3 Studio, volunteered for the day at Habitat for Humanity’s newest project at 100 Parker Street in Lawrence, MA.

Architects, Interior Designers and administrative staff, all moved off of the drawing boards and onto the job site to help in this effort.  The former St. Patrick Convent at 100 Parker St. in Lawrence will be converted into as many as 10 units of affordable housing. This renovation will transform the former convent, which has been vacant for two years, into 10 homes for deserving families, while preserving the beauty and dignity of this classic architectural structure. This project is a priority for the next three years. It represents the greatest opportunity and challenge Merrimack Valley Habitat has ever faced. The renovation will have a powerful impact on the Merrimack Valley community where the need is the most acute.

A community partner since the company was founded in Lawrence, 7 years ago, CUBE 3 Studio offered pro-bono design services to the Lazarus House Ministries for their transitional housing project ; Capernaum Place. Recently, CUBE 3 Studio provided free design services for the renovation and addition to the home of Bella Tucker in Londonderry, NH.  Bella, who is now 9 years old, lost all four of her limbs to amputation after coming down with Streptococcus Pneumonia Sepsis with DIC on Easter Sunday 2010. The renovations ensured that all spaces of her home would be accessible to her.

#7  The Elliot at Rivers Edge, Manchester, NH

Location, location, location. Sure, the building is easy to look at, but the view (assuming you’re recovering on the right side of the building) is tremendous. Big windows with a view can go a long way to speeding recovery. Add stylish architecture to the mix and you’ve got one of America’s most beautiful hospitals.
